Canada's under-22 and under-18 women's hockey teams concluded their three-game series with the U.S. on winning notes yesterday.

The Canadians rallied from a 3-0 second-period deficit to force overtime.

In Quebec, Catherine Ward of Montreal scored 48 seconds into overtime to secure the win for Canada. In Lake Placid, Breann Frykas of East St. Paul, Man., scored 3:11 into overtime for Canada.

NO BRAWLING

There will be tougher sanctions on brawling, but no outright ban on fighting in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season.

A committee examining hockey violence following a melee during the playoffs in the spring did not include an automatic ejection for fighting among the 31 recommendations in a report submitted to the league's board of governors yesterday in Victoriaville, Que.
