The IIHF World Women's Hockey Championship unveiled its mascot Peggy the Polar Bear, yesterday at Ecole Constable Edward Finney School.

The mascot was the brainchild of 10-year-old Ashley Hykaway, who attends the school, the official winner of the World Women's Championship 'Design a Mascot' contest. Her entry helped influence the mascot's creation and was chosen over 100 entries.

As the winner, Hykaway won the right to have the mascot's first public appearance be at her school and a prize package including a Hockey Canada jersey and tickets to every game.
