Paul Henderson dearly wanted to go to Russia for the celebrations. Unfortunately, his battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia didn't allow the series hero to make the trip.

Meanwhile, other former NHL players making the trip will be playing in Russia for the first time in their life.

QMI Agency's Randy Sportak discussed the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series and the first anniversary of the Lokomotiv plane crash.
