Avery goes semi-nude
Gets racy in photo shoot

With his professional hockey career on ice, Sean Avery has a lot of time on his hands.

The former NHL forward, who back in March announced his intent to retire from hockey once his current contract expires at the end of this season, participated in a racy photo shoot with fashion photographer Terry Richardson.

Among the set is a photo of Avery with his hands in his underwear over his crotch and another revealing the top of his rear end. Avery is shirtless throughout the set.

This isn't Avery's first encounter with the fashion world. In 2008, he spent the off-season interning at Vogue magazine. In 2009, he worked with men's clothing label Commonwealth Utilities on a show for New York Fashion Week.

Avery's final season was filled with much of the same controversy as the rest of his 10-year career. He spent most of this season with Connecticut of the AHL after being waived -- twice -- by the New York Rangers, but the minor-league team didn't include him on its post-season roster and told him he was no longer required to show up for practices.

In 580 NHL games with four franchises -- New York, Dallas, Los Angeles and Detroit -- Avery had 90 goals and 157 assists.

Do you think the officiating has been fair in the Kings-Sharks series?
  Yes
  No
No ... but the refs seem to be evening it out themselves
