Former NHL player and coach Jean-Guy Talbot suffered a stroke Monday and was taken to hospital in Trois-Rivieres, Que.
He was reported in stable condition.
Talbot, 79, played 16 seasons in the NHL from 1955 to 1971 for the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota North Stars and Buffalo Sabres.
He had 43 goals and 242 assists in 1,056 career games.
After retiring as a player, Talbot coached the St. Louis Blues (1972-74) and New York Rangers (1977-78). With the Rangers he was known for wearing a tracksuit behind the bench instead of the customary jacket and tie.
