Graham James' bail application delayed again

WINNIPEG – An expected bail application by former hockey coach and convicted sex offender Graham James has been delayed until Friday.

"There is a problem with that application based on disclosure," said lawyer David Ireland, who appeared in court Monday on James' behalf.

James — arrested last month on nine new sex charges — remains in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. He was reportedly living in Mexico before he returned to Canada late last month and was taken into custody.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for James on Oct. 13, alleging he abused former NHL star Theo Fleury between 1983 and 1985 and two other alleged victims between the late 1970s and the mid-90s.

Fleury's allegations came in January following the release of his book, Playing With Fire. James was previously sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison after he was convicted of sexual assault against NHLer Sheldon Kennedy and another man who was not named.
