Every now and then, teams come up with a third jersey to commemorate an event or occasion.
For the WHLís Saskatoon Blades, they are going denim.
The Blades, along with Wrangler Jeans, have come up with a special denim jersey to highlight the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Canadian Cup National Finals being held in Saskatoon.
The jerseys, though not actually made of denim, look very much like a jean jacket, with faux white stitching and pockets. The team logo and numbers simulate patches on a typical garment.
This isnít the first time a team has done something weird with their jersey. The Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL once donned jerseys that looked like prison outfits in honour of Illinois disgraced governor Rod Blagojevich.
The Blades plan to sport their jean jerseys on Nov. 12 during their home game against the Portland Winterhawks.
The PBR Canadian Cup National Finals takes place on Nov. 19-20.
