TORONTO Call it North America's best sports bar.
ESPN mobile announced Friday that Toronto's Real Sports Bar & Grill beat out seven other finalists to win the title of best in America (which ESPN has now changed to best sports bar in North America).
The bar, which opened two months ago, is owned by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment the same people who own the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team.
"It's fantastic," Michael Doyle, MLSE's vice-president of food and beverage, told the Sun Friday. "(Real Sports) has been an instant hit with the World Cup starting it off and we've gone from there."
"We opened Real Sports with the goal of being the best sports bar anywhere and now its humbling to know that our patrons have made it official."
MLSE bills the Maple Leaf Square eatery, located near the Air Canada Centre, as the "the most authentic sports experience you can get outside the rink, court and playing field."
"Our goal was to create a one of a kind experience for sports fans. Whether it's providing an electric atmosphere for a Leafs, Raptors or Toronto FC game or having a thousand fans watching the World Cup or UFC on our huge HD screen," MLSE's Bob Hunter said in a press release.
