Lining up Bloc's hockey dream team

ATLANTA -- The concept of a Team Quebec is one that has been posed on many occasions.

And shot down in flames every time.

But common sense is rarely a hindrance to political proposals and as always Quebec could indeed put together a respectable team.

So could Ontario and British Columbia. And for that matter, Saskatchewan isn't too bad either.

LOWER POOL

But even if the path were cleared to enter a Team Quebec in international circles, it would take years to graduate to Group A. That's the world's elite, and to compete at that level, you need to start in a much lower pool and work up.

But if Quebec did put together a team, it would be very strong in goal, powerful at forward and appalling on defence.

It would probably look like this:

Goal: Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo and Marc-Andre Fleury.

Forwards: Patrice Bergeron, Daniel Briere, Marc Chouinard, Simon Gagne, Martin Lapointe, Vincent Lecavalier, Mario Lemieux, Mike Ribeiro, Luc Robitaille, Marc Savard, Martin St. Louis, Alex Tanguay and Pierre Turgeon.

Defence: Francois Beauchemin, Marc-Andre Bergeron, Phillipe Boucher, Patrice Brisebois, Matthieu Dandenault, Eric Desjardins and Denis Gauthier.
