Carter won't go bananas over it all

PILSEN, Czech Republic -- Yes, I have no bananas. I have no bananas today.

There was no banana-throwing incident here last night, but Anson Carter decided to throw a quote at the Russians.

"I wouldn't trade my life for anyone living there,'' said the only black member of the Worldstars after a fan in St. Petersburg the night before threw a banana on the ice in both the first and third period.

It was a small-scale international incident in a year when rampant racism at soccer games in Europe has been a big story.

Carter says he doesn't want it to become any more of a story than it is.

"I just want to get on playing. I talked to my parents a little bit about it today. One idiot is what we're talking about here.

''I've had bananas thrown at me before. The most recent time was at Michigan State. I'm not going to lose sleep over it,''
