The Winnipeg Jets have made no secret that the lifeblood of the organization as they work to become a playoff team is the NHL Draft.

When the franchise relocated from Atlanta, the prospect shelves weren’t exactly overstocked.

But with the benefit of four drafts under their collective belt, the Jets are making progress on that front.

Mark Scheifele (seventh overall in 2011) and Jacob Trouba (ninth overall in 2012) stepped into the lineup last season and made substantial contributions as rookies, which has only stoked the excitement of folks who wonder if defenceman Josh Morrissey (13th overall in 2013) might be ready to join them as a regular this fall with a strong training camp and pre-season.

Then there’s 2014 first rounder Nikolaj Ehlers, who brought fans to their feet while going end-to-end and scoring a dazzling goal during a scrimmage on the final day of development camp earlier this month.
