ANAHEIM, Calif. — Fans of the Winnipeg Jets tonight will get a break from the team’s death march towards the end of the season when it takes on Teemu Selanne and the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center.

The Jets, who have just three wins in their last 13 games, are about to be eliminated from playoff contention, but the large contingent of Jets fans who have travelled to California for part of the team’s five-game road trip will get one last chance to fete Selanne, the most popular player from the original Jets who is retiring at season’s end.

Selanne started thinking about about playing the Jets for the final time a few days ago.

“It’s always nice,” Selanne said. “It’s different, especially when they don’t have the old jerseys. But it’s still nice, obviously.”

There are likely to be several hundred Jets fans in attendance tonight, and Selanne said he will hear them.
