DALLAS — Jets captain Andrew Ladd tonight will miss his first game since the team moved from Atlanta to Winnipeg nearly three years ago.

Ladd’s wife Brandi gave birth to a baby girl yesterday, so the first-line left-winger stayed behind to be with her. He will miss tonight’s game at American Airlines Center against the Dallas Stars but will play on Thursday night in San Jose against the Sharks.

The last time Ladd missed a game was during the 2010-11 season as a member of the Atlanta Thrashers.

“We’re pretty excited for him,” head coach Paul Maurice said after today’s morning skate.

Evander Kane will move up to the No. 1 line to skate with Bryan Little and Michael Frolik, while Olli Jokinen will centre the second line between Dustin Byfuglien and Blake Wheeler.

The Jets recalled centre Patrice Cormier and Carl Klingberg this morning to make up for the roster shortfall. Cormier will centre the fourth line, likely between Eric Tangradi and Matt Halishcuk.
