Devin Setoguchi could be heading back to where his NHL career began.
A source confirmed on Tuesday that the San Jose Sharks have inquired about the winger who once scored 31 goals while riding shotgun for Joe Thornton.
Among the possibilities who could come back to the Jets in a possible deal for Setoguchi (a pending unrestricted free agent who was chosen eighth overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Sharks) are forward James Sheppard, Adam Burish and Tyler Kennedy.
Several other pieces among the Bottom-6 forwards on both rosters are under consideration.
Setoguchi, who was acquired from the Minnesota Wild last summer for a second round pick in 2014, has 11 goals and 26 points in 62 games for the Jets this season.
The NHL deadline is 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Jets have held talks about a potential contract extension with pending unrestricted free agent defenceman Mark Stuart.
