NASHVILLE - Internal competition could become a driving force for the Winnipeg Jets during the stretch drive.

At least that's what head coach Paul Maurice must be hoping as his team continues this quest for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

And that competition is sure to take on different forms during this six-week stretch.

First and foremost, an influx of healthy bodies means there will be healthy competition to get in the lineup and earn ice time.

Having more options at his disposal allows Maurice the option of sitting someone out who isn't pulling his weight, if you will.

The return of Evander Kane and Jim Slater (with Matt Halischuk likely just around the corner) also provides some depth up front and the value of that is two-fold.
