WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets have taken an offensive hit during their hottest stretch of the season.

Head coach Paul Maurice announced Tuesday morning that left-winger Evander Kane, who is third on the team with 15 goals, will be out until at least after the Olympic break due to an infection in his hand.

The Jets have six games remaining before the NHL will stop for the Winter Olympics.

Kane missed four games after cutting a knuckle on his right hand during a fight with Tampa Bay’s Eric Brewer on Jan. 7. He returned on Jan. 21, registering a goal and three assists in four games.

“He’s going to be taken care of this afternoon, but he will not play prior to the Olympic break,” Maurice said. “I don’t know what more that it is they’re going to do. You do it, and then you just pray that it gets taken care of, because there’s nothing you can do about it.
