COLUMBUS - The Winnipeg Jets are back in the win column after defeating another Eastern Conference opponent.

The Jets snapped a three-game slide and improved to 15-15-5 with a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night at Nationwide Arena.

With the win, the Jets are now 9-3-1 against Eastern Conference opponents.

The Jets are back in action Tuesday night at First Niagara Center against the Buffalo Sabres.

Jets rookie centre Mark Scheifele buried a pass from Evander Kane for his fourth goal of the season at 13:59 of the second period to put the visitors on top.

It was an eventful game for Kane, who was playing for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury against the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 29.

Kane made the perfect feed to Scheifele after leaving the game momentarily early in the second after blocking a shot on the left heel by Blue Jackets defenceman David Savard.
