The St. Louis Blues power play caught a break and that’s all they needed to secure a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night at MTS Centre.

With Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien serving a hooking minor, Blues defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk’s point shot changed direction off Jets centre Bryan Little, who was sliding to block the shot attempt, and over Ondrej Pavelec at 16:58 of the third period.

It was the second time in three meetings the Jets have given up a late goal to the Blues to prevent them from earning at least one point.

After going 4-2 on a six-game road trip against Eastern Conference opponents, the Jets are now a lowly 3-10-2 against Central Division opponents.

Meanwhile, the Blues are 10-0-1, the lone shootout defeat coming against the Jets back on Oct. 18.

The Jets are back in action on Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche.
