A week ago, Claude Noel stopped practice and asked for more intensity.
While I don’t think this was exactly what he had in mind, an exchange of words — and nearly punches — between Mark Stuart and Anthony Peluso might be a step in the right direction when it comes to raising the compete level.
After all, as the old saying goes, you play like you practice and there’s no doubt that both Stuart and Peluso like to mix it up in games.
Stuart and Peluso said all the right things when asked about the minor incident.
In fact, Stuart brought a little levity to the situation.
When members of the media approached his locker, Stuart smiled and said “what do you guys want to talk about?” before providing his side of the story.
After saying it was merely a matter of two intense players showing some intensity in the heat of the moment, Stuart provided another quality sound-byte.
“I guess I felt like getting knocked out, but I’m glad he was nice and didn’t punch me in the face,” said Stuart. “I see nothing wrong with it. That stuff used to happen a lot more. It doesn’t happen too much any more, but that that stuff used to happen a least once a week years ago. There’s no issue there. We talked after, it’s all good.”
