UNIONDALE, N.Y. - A three-goal second period pushed the Winnipeg Jets to a second consecutive victory on this season-long six-game road trip.

Mark Stuart, Andrew Ladd and Devin Setoguchi scored in a span of five minutes and 15 seconds as the Jets hung on for a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders before a sparse crowd at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Jets are back in action Friday morning with a 10:30 a.m. CT start against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Backup goalie Al Montoya made28 saves in his sixth start and seventh appearance of the season to imporve to 3-2-1.

Islanders defenceman Andrew MacDonald scored a power-play marker late in the second period to break up Montoya’s shutout bid.

Stuart broke a scoreless tie with a shot from the left point that came after James Wright won the draw cleanly in the offensive zone.

It was the first goal of the season for Stuart and the first point of the campaign for Wright.
