WINNIPEG - The Chicago Blackhawks scored three goals in the third period to break open a close game and hand the Winnipeg Jets a 6-3 loss, Thursday night.

Marian Hossa and Ben Smith took advantage of loose play in the Jets’ zone to hand Winnipeg its third straight loss against the division-rival Blackhawks this season.

Patrick Sharp added an empty-net goal for the visitors.

Chicago captain Jonathan Toews had a big night against his hometown team, scoring once and assisting on three goals, including Hossa’s game winner, which broke a 3-3 tie, 3:11 into the third period.

The Blackhawks have scored 15 goals in three wins over the Jets, who’ve now given up 10 goals in their last two games, both at home.
