WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Jets head coach Claude Noel has a pretty good handle on what his team needs to do differently and what might happen if things don't change.

"The problem right now is that we're trying to put skill ahead of work -- we've got it backwards," Noel said after holding meetings with players following a spirited practice on Monday. "I know you're going to try and decipher all of the things, but that's the root of the problem. Work first, skill second. The thing that I find is that we care, we've just got things in the wrong order and we've got to get them in the right order.

"That's my job and that's what we're trying to do today."

The Jets are back on the ice Tuesday night to close out a six-game homestand against the Washington Capitals.

Noel said it was good to get some input from his players during group and individual meetings and at the end of the day, a collective effort is required to pull his team out of this funk.
