Mark Scheifele had four shots on goal and a couple of good scoring chances on Tuesday. More than anything, the rookie did a good job of playing the puck and making things happen.

There are still plenty of detractors who think Mark Scheifele would be better served playing on the farm right now, but the Jets rookie centre doesn’t look to be going anywhere, any time soon.

Scheifele had perhaps his best NHL game Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens, skating well, carrying the puck, winning some battles down low and creating scoring chances.

While that didn’t results in any goals in the 3-0 loss, it was a strong indication that Scheifele is gaining confidence and feeling more comfortable with his surroundings in his first NHL season.

“I felt like I had the puck a little more on my stick, I felt confident, felt good from the start and just wanted to keep it rolling,” Scheifele said Wednesday. “Each and every shift I got better and I thought that was a big key. I was wanting the puck more, I was wanting it on my stick and I was wanting to be around it and I think that was the big difference.”

Scheifele, 20, had over 18 minutes of ice time
