WINNIPEG - Head coach Claude Noel ratcheted up the intensity Wednesday as his Winnipeg Jets prepare to put the finishing touches on the NHL pre-season.

Noel stopped practice at one point when he wasn’t happy with the amount of communication on the ice, and not all his words were fit for consumption in a newspaper.

“If we don’t (expletive) talk ... I don’t hear (expletive),” the coach barked. “Just talk. Communicate. Who’s got what, ‘I got him.’ Let’s not play guess-work with this (expletive).”

Players say it’s a sign of the increased pressure and attention to detail as the regular season approaches.

“We had a day off yesterday and we were a bit sloppy today and he was letting us know it wasn’t good enough,” Bryan Little said. “It’s just trying to get us ready and everybody focused for the season.”

The Jets have two pre-season games remaining, both against Boston: tomorrow night at home, Friday in Saskatoon.
