WINNIPEG - Since landing in Winnipeg as the Jets' most significant free-agent signing last fall, Olli Jokinen hasn't been shy about sharing his feelings.

As the Jets cleaned out their lockers after another unfulfilled season, Friday, the 34-year-old Finn took himself head-on, hitting the mark better than he did in most games.

"It was probably the worst year in 10 years I've played," Jokinen said.

His stats: seven goals and 14 points in 45 games, with a near career-worst minus-19 mark before his season was cut short by a high ankle sprain against the Islanders, April 20. This from someone who's broken the 60-point mark five times in his career, including last season with Calgary.

So if Alexei Ponikarovsky was a swing and a miss in free agency for GM Kevin Cheveldayoff, what was Jokinen -- a case of being caught looking?

A good year from him and the Jets could be getting ready for a playoff series.
