WINNIPEG - At times it’s shakier than the last leaf on the tree, as it hangs on for dear life behind a goalie who supplies the glue.
Flashes of brilliance, followed by moments of madness.
This is the Winnipeg Jets train, as it hurtles around the last bend of the NHL season, the crowd holding its breath. Just when you swear it’s about to go off the rails, the wheels touch down again, sparks fly and everybody exhales.
The Jets won another game, Thursday, 4-3 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes. That’s five straight, now, new tracks for this franchise since it rolled to the Great White North.
But that makes it sound like a quaint Sunday ride on the Easy Express.
This has been anything but.
