WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets exploded for a season-high goal tally tonight at MTS Centre and won their third straight game, crushing the Florida Panthers 7-2.

It didn’t do them much good in their pursuit of a playoff spot, however, as three teams ahead of them all won tonight. The Jets moved into an eighth-place tie with the New York Rangers, but the Blueshirts have two games in hand.

Winnipeg (21-19-2) is currently ninth, two points back of the third-place Washington Capitals, who also have a game in a hand.

The out-of-town scoreboard didn’t stop the party from going strong at the downtown arena tonight, as the home side scored early and often and did a very loud wave with seven minutes remaining.
