Winnipeg Jets defenceman Zach Redmond, cut by a teammate's skate blade less than two months ago, is back on the ice.

Redmond skated with injured teammates Jim Slater and Anthony Peluso at the Iceplex Friday morning.

"Awesome — I didn't expect to be back this quick," Redmond said. "As the recovery goes on, I get better and better news."

It was February 21 when the 24-year-old suffered a life-threatening cut to a major artery in his thigh during a game-day skate in Carolina.
