There are days Claude Noel sounds angry, there are days he’s disappointed and then there are days like Friday.

Days when he basically throws up his hands in exasperation, questioning how a team can come up so flat when the stakes are so high.

Thursday’s inexplicable 4-0 loss at home to Washington and Friday’s equally miserable follow-up are likely to have the Winnipeg Jets head coach searching for answers for a long time.

Facing a team way below it in the standings and staring at a chance to open up some breathing room in the race for a playoff spot, the Jets gagged, and made 15,000 customers want to.

Just like that, a golden opportunity squandered.

It’s not like his team put in a solid effort and lost. That’ll happen when the other team gets paid, too.

It’s as if every player on the roster forgot everything they had learned to do on the same night.
