Anthony Peluso made sure his first trip to The Big Apple was a memorable one.
Just two days after winning his first NHL fight, Peluso picked up his first two NHL assists in the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 triumph over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
“It’s pretty sweet. As a kid you always dream about it and for it to happen is incredible,” said Peluso, who has only three NHL games under his belt.
“It hasn’t really sunk in. A bunch of the guys were saying they got their first points here. It’s a special building and it’s a good feeling.”
Peluso, who was plucked off waivers from the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 16, took only nine shifts for 7:36, but looked comfortable and had a big impact on the game.
“Outstanding,” said Jokinen. “He works hard every day and it’s great to see a guy like him get rewarded and get a couple of points. He keeps his game simple, but he’s got very good hands, he can shoot the puck, he’s got the size."
