Blake Wheeler cleared his mind and found his skating legs.
The net result was the best game of the 2013 season for the Winnipeg Jets right-winger.
Although Wheeler didn’t produce any points, he was one of the most dangerous players on the ice, firing six shots on goal and setting up linemates Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little for many other glorious opportunities throughout the Jets 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.
“It’s like I was talking about the last two days, just no thinking and just enjoying the game. That’s the mindset from here on out,” said Wheeler, who led the Jets in scoring last season and has four goals and 11 points in 15 games this season. “It might be hard to understand but it makes a huge difference when you’re out there just reacting and letting the game come to you. Things just seem to happen. I can’t really explain it in better words other than that.”
