The Winnipeg Jets will be carrying some extra baggage when they take off for what could be a season-defining road trip today.

Having lost four straight home games and sitting one point out of last place in the overall NHL standings, the Jets are now battling a serious case of the blues.

“We’re just so bogged down by all the negativity,” winger Blake Wheeler said, Monday. “There’s so much negativity. We feel it... and it’s deserving. When you lose games that’s kind of the way it goes. We’ve tried to show some resiliency the last two games. But the biggest problem is not that we’re not trying... we’re just suffocating ourselves with all the expectations. And just not getting the job done.”

In desperate need of some points before heading out on their longest road trip of the season (five games), the Jets played just well enough to lose on a three-game home-stand, the latest example Sunday’s 3-2 setback to Boston.
