WINNIPEG - So that’s what it looks like when a team puts in an honest day’s work.
After looking like they needed a heart transplant against Philadelphia earlier this week, the Jets jolted out of their stupor against Pittsburgh, throwing everything they had at the Penguins for a good part of Friday night.
“That’s really what I was looking for — they left their heart on the ice,” was head coach Claude Noel’s post-game summation.
Trouble is, the scoresheet remained a flatline, the home team on the business end of 3-1 decision.
Noel was the man who’d applied the paddles and yelled “clear!” — his tongue-lashings this week, public and behind closed doors, got his comatose patient’s attention.
Because it was a completely different beast wearing the CF-18 on this night.
“Claude made that pretty clear that he expected better out of us,” Bryan Little said.
