Jets deal for Tangradi, send Ponikarovsky to Devils
By PAUL FRIESEN, QMI Agency

Jets prospect Eddie Pasquale started as the third goaltender in St. John's but wound up being the go-to guy in the 2012 playoffs.

It might have been a day off for the players, but the Winnipeg Jets front office was active Wednesday.

In an effort to get more physical, the team made two trades and called up a goaltender from the farm.

The biggest move was trading forward Alexei Ponikarovsky to the New Jersey Devils, the team with which he spent half of last season.

A Jets free agent signing last summer, Ponikarovsky, 32, had little success with the Jets, managing two goals and no assists through 12 games.

The Jets received two draft picks in the deal, a seventh-rounder this year and a fourth-rounder next.

In a separate move, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff acquired winger Eric Tangradi from Pittsburgh for the Penguins’ seventh-round pick in this year’s draft.

Would Seattle be a good city for the NHL to relocate to?
Yes, it'd be a great market.
  Maybe, who knows.
No, they should go to Quebec instead.
