Claude Noel has an interesting choice on his hands.
Although the head coach of the Winnipeg Jets has likely already made the decision, he wasn’t willing to share who his starting goaltender would be when his team hosts the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night at MTS Centre.
That’s not exactly a new development since Noel is quite selective in sharing information about his netminders, but from where I sit, Al Montoya deserves his second straight start and there shouldn’t be much of a debate required.
There’s an unwritten rule in hockey that if a goalie gets a shutout, he usually gets the call in the next game.
And when a guy is forced to step in after Ondrej Pavelec went down with a virus, posts 33 saves and records his first shutout in nearly four years, you owe it to that guy — and your team — to give him another shot.
