You’ve heard the saying about turning boos into cheers?
The Jets experienced the literal version of it in overtime against the Panthers, Tuesday.
Handed a four-on-three power play for the last two minutes of overtime, the Jets couldn’t even get into the Florida zone, drawing a chorus of boos — right up until Zach Redmond carried the puck in and set up Bryan Little for the game-winner.
Player reactions varied.
“If I was in the stands I probably would have been booing, too,” Little said. “Four on three we should be easier to get in the zone.”
Blake Wheeler said he didn’t hear the catcalls.
“That’s too bad,” Wheeler said. “But at the end of the day it was a power play goal — you can’t complain.”
Andrew Ladd said he was busy listening to something else.
“I just heard a little voice in my head,” Ladd said. “Trust me, I wasn’t happy with myself.”
