WINNIPEG - Zach Redmond certainly didn’t look like a guy who hadn’t played in three weeks.

When you consider the Winnipeg Jets defenceman had waited his entire life to make his NHL debut, it’s a testament to how hard he’s been working to be ready for that monumental moment.

Redmond beat out the more experienced Derek Meech for the final spot on the Jets’ opening-day roster, but spent the next six games in the press box as a healthy scratch.

Last Thursday, after Dustin Byfuglien went down with a lower-body injury, Redmond finally got the opportunity he coveted for so long, suiting up against the Florida Panthers at BB&T Arena.

“I loved every minute of it,” said Redmond, who figures to play his third consecutive game on Tuesday night as the Jets host the Panthers. “You don’t just wait while you’re up here. You think about it while you’re in the American League too. There was a lot of anticipation, but it was awesome to finally get in there.”
