WINNIPEG - Claude Noel is doing his best to keep his Winnipeg Jets on an even keel, despite their strong start to the season.

Speaking 14 hours after his team roared back for a 5-4 overtime victory over the New York Islanders that improved its record to 3-1-1, the head coach said he will do his best to keep things in perspective for everyone involved.

“I’m a little bit reluctant to put too much into the five games,” Noel said after Winnipeg’s 45-minute practice at MTS Centre. “That’s just a little bit early. We all like what we see in the fact that we’ve managed this thing and right now we’re 3-1-1, but let’s keep things in perspective.

“It’s a shortened season. We just want to make sure that we control our balance a little bit, because this thing could go everywhere. We have to manage it with the same type of balance, so we have to make sure we’re in control here.”
