WINNIPEG - Alex Burmistrov didn’t care that Zdeno Chara is 6-foot-9 and 255 pounds.

Halfway through Boston’s 2-1 shootout win over the Jets last Monday afternoon, Burmistrov didn’t think twice about laying the body on Chara, who is eight inches taller and 75 pounds heavier, just after the Bruins captain released a pass from behind his own net.

The surprising part might not have been that Burmistrov delivered the hit. It was probably that Chara got knocked on his 35-year-old keester and didn’t look happy about it, either.

“It happens. This is definitely not the first time I hit him,” Burmistrov said with a smile on Monday. “I guess I just get lucky against him.”

The hit on Chara is just one of many positive plays the 21-year-old Russian has made through five games. Burmistrov was essentially invisible at the end of last season, but that is not the case this year.
