Jets clip Islanders in overtime

WINNIPEG - It wasn't pretty but the Winnipeg Jets will take it. Following a wild third period that featured five goals, the Jets blew a third-period lead but recovered when Evander Kane poked in a rebound at 1:59 of overtime to give them a 5-4 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday night before a crowd of 15,004 at MTS Centre. The Jets, who improve ot 3-1-1, open a three-game road trip on Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens. After taking a 2-1 lead, the Jets gave up three goals in the third period before mounting an impressive comeback that featured goals from Dustin Byfuglien (on the power play) and Alex Burmistrov (on a beautiful individual effort) 65 seconds apart. |
