Kyle Wellwood to sit as Jets face Capitals

WASHINGTON - Claude Noel is inserting some fresh legs into the Winnipeg Jets’ lineup as they close out a busy stretch of three games in four days against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night at Verizon Center.

The head coach of the Jets is tapping newcomer James Wright on the shoulder and he’ll replace Kyle Wellwood, who saw only three shifts in Monday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Boston Bruins.

“I thought Kyle was good in the game, good in both games, it’s just that you play heavy games and he looked tired and looked a little slower, we wanted some activity against the forecheck,” said Noel. “Against Washington, we wanted to utilize a little bit more speed in the game and throughout the lineup.”

Wright was claimed off waivers from the Florida Panthers last week and has only skated with his new teammates a few times, since practice time has been precious in the early going.
