The 48-game season might just be the perfect fit for Ondrej Pavelec.
If there’s been a trend with Winnipeg’s No. 1 netminder over the past couple of seasons, it’s that he’s started well and finished poorly. The good news for him this year is the regular season will be over before it really has a chance to get going.
Last season in Winnipeg and especially the year before in Atlanta, Pavelec seemed to struggle more as the snow melted. This year he’ll just be getting into the swing of things when the playoffs roll around. Pavelec, who appeared in 68 games during the 2011-12 campaign, shrugged off the suggestion, however, that he gets tired towards the end of the season.
