WINNIPEG - One man’s junk is another man’s perfect tough guy.

The Winnipeg Jets dipped into the NHL waiver pile, Wednesday, coming up with 240 pounds of muscle discarded by the St. Louis Blues.

Anthony Peluso, a heavyweight in the AHL the last three years, immediately gets a promotion, as the Jets have every intention of keeping the 6-foot-4, 23-year-old on their roster for the start of the season.

Last Saturday, Peluso was a healthy scratch of the Peoria Rivermen in a game against Grand Rapids.

“Now I’m in the NHL. It’s amazing,” Peluso told the Peoria Journal Star. “It’s beyond Cloud 9. If there’s a Cloud 11, I’m on it right now.”

A Blues sixth-round pick in 2007, Peluso scored five goals in his first 13 games this season, but hasn’t scored since. He has 58 minutes in penalties and has seen his share of scraps, at least when he can convince someone to go.
