WINNIPEG - The wait is nearly over, but the real work is really moving into high gear for the Winnipeg Jets.

News that the NHL and NHLPA have reached a tentative deal on a new collective bargaining agreement after a marathon bargaining sesssion came to the forefront on Sunday morning and there are already reports out there that the season could be between 48 and 50 games and start between Jan. 15 and 19.

The NHLPA is expected to approve the deal on a conference call later Sunday, while the NHL board of governors will reportedly convene on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Jets won’t comment until the deal is ratified, though a make-shift training camp could open later this week.
