Former Jets forward Eric Fehr back on track in Finland

WINNIPEG - Eric Fehr took a break from hockey over Christmas to visit the home of Santa Claus, in the Arctic Circle.

Whether he found old Saint Nick doesn’t really matter.

Because the former Winnipeg Jets forward may be discovering an even greater gift during his time in Finland.

The 27-year-old appears to have found himself again.

Discarded by the Jets — and ignored by every other NHL team in the free agent market — after a disastrous 2011-12 campaign, Fehr is looking like his old self after joining former Jets teammate Antti Miettinen with HPK Hameenlinna, in the Finnish league.

“I had a lot to prove to myself and to everybody else,” the Winkler, Man., product was saying in an interview from Finland, Wednesday. “I wasn’t happy with the way last season went at all, and I wanted to get it behind me the best way I could.”

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
