Jets sign Maxwell, Dekanich

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Ben Maxwell and goaltender Mark Dekanich.

Maxwell, 24, played nine games with the Jets last season, recording a goal and four assists.

He had eight goals, 17 assists with the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL, plus another seven points in 15 playoff games.

The North Vancouver, B.C. product has played in 47 career NHL games between Montreal, Atlanta, Winnipeg and Anaheim.

He was originally drafted by Montreal in the second round in 2006.

Dekanich, 26, played five games with Springfield of the AHL last season, recording a 1-2-1 record and 4.00 goals against average.

He has played in 127 career AHL games between Milwaukee and Springfield, posting a 66-40-12, career record, 2.22 goals against average and .920 save percentage.

Also from North Vancouver, Dekanich was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the fifth round in 2006.
