Bad news for male Jets fans. You’re going to have to keep crossing your legs or drink less beer — there will be no urinal troughs added to MTS Centre.

“We’re comfortable with the washroom facilities as we have them in the building,” MTS Centre spokesman Scott Brown said Wednesday. “I don’t think at any point we will be bringing the trough back.”

Long lineups at the men’s washrooms has prompted the posting of an online petition calling on arena owner True North Sports and Entertainment to install urinal troughs like those previously used at the Winnipeg Arena and Canad Inns Stadium.

By late Tuesday afternoon 329 people had signed the petition.

“I wanted to be in and out of the washroom, now we’re stuck in there forever like ladies,” wrote Jeremy S.

“It’s just not Winnipeg without the trough,” wrote Andrew.

“When I gotta go I gotta go, there’s no time to wait in line,” Kyle DePourcq wrote.

Some fans complained they miss up to a full period of play because of long washroom lineups.

“It would be nice to be able to get a beer and take a leak in between periods without having to choose one or the other,” wrote Anthony C.

It wasn’t only men signing the petition.

“Bring it back!” wrote a woman named Deirdre. “And we need something like it for the women’s washroom to get rid of those nasty line-ups too!”

MTS Centre has more than a dozen washrooms, ample enough facilities for an arena its size, Brown said.

“We aren’t going to start tearing apart the building in the first year,” he said.

Brown said he didn’t believe trough advocates speak for the majority of Jets fans.

“I think there are just as many people who don’t want the trough as people who do,” he said.
