Single game Jets tickets sell fast
By JILLIAN AUSTIN, QMI Agency
WINNIPEG - Hundreds of Winnipeg Jets fans got their hands on some of the hottest tickets in town Saturday morning.
About six hundred individual game tickets for each of the four October home games went on sale for the fans whose names were picked from a random draw.
Because there are so few individual tickets, the Jets wanted to “allow for fair and equal distribution” of tickets to fans.
The first draw for tickets was made on Wednesday, and just after 10 a.m. Saturday, the tickets could be purchased.
“There was a bit of a technical glitch early on, but we got that fixed fairly quickly, so it went fairly smoothly,” said Jets communications director, Scott Brown from Nashville. “From what I understand, there was a ... tremendous amount of activity early on.”
Not all of the tickets have been purchased yet, Brown said.
“At a certain point, if they haven’t claimed them by then, then we’ll draw some more names,” Brown said.
The Jets home opener is on Oct. 9 against the Montreal Canadiens. They host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 17, Carolina Hurricanes on Oct. 22 and New York Rangers on Oct. 24.
Fans can complete an online ballot at www.winnipegjets.com/tickets, which will be entered into the draw. Each month, fans will be randomly chosen and given an opportunity to buy two tickets for a game in the following month.
Tickets go on sale on approximately the third Saturday of each month for the following month’s games. Fans do not have to re-enter the draw each month. Once a person’s name is drawn, they will not be eligible to win again this season.
