Jets name operations, training staff
By KIRK PENTON, QMI Agency

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets announced their hockey operations and training staff on Thursday morning.

Larry Simmons will serve as the assistant to general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff, and the pro scouting staff will be led by Mark Dobson. Jack Birch, John Perpich and Bruce Southern will serve as pro scouts.

Marcel Comeau is the director of amateur scouting, and the head scout is Mark Hillier. His staff will include Tavis MacMillan (U.S.), Chris Snell (OHL), Keith Sullivan (U.S.), Scott Scoville (WHL), Ed Friesen, Yanick Lemay and Pat Carmichael.

Evgeny Bogdanovich will lead the European scouting staff, whose other member is scout Fredrik Jax.

Simmons, Dobson, Perpich, Comeau, Carmichael and Bogdanovich have all been with the Atlanta Thrashers organization since its inaugural season of 1999-2000.

As reported earlier this summer, former Manitoba Moose forward Jimmy Roy will serve as the director of player development, while Ryan Bowness comes to Winnipeg after two seasons in Atlanta to continue his role as manager of hockey operations and team services.

Rob Milette, who was the head athletic therapist for the Moose, will continue in that role for the Jets, and he will be assisted by Brad Shaw and Lee Stubbs, who will also do strength and conditioning.

The Moose equipment manager staff of head man Jason McMaster, and assistants Mark Grehan and Mike Flaman will stay with the Jets as well.

Al Pritchard will continue his role as the team's massage therapist.

Do you think the officiating has been fair in the Kings-Sharks series?
