Winnipeg set for exhibition games

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The appetizer is here, with the main course to follow shortly.

On Thursday morning, True North Sports and Entertainment released its slate of seven pre-season games and they will include a pair of games against the Nashville Predators, two against the Carolina Hurricanes, two against the Columbus Blue Jackets and one against the Ottawa Senators.

Winnipeg opens the pre-season schedule with split squad games against the Blue Jackets on Sept. 20, with one taking place at MTS Centre and the other at Nationwide Arena.

They will travel to Bridgestone Arena in Nashville to face the Predators on Sept. 24, move on to Charlotte, N.C. to face the Hurricanes in the building of their AHL affiliate before heading to Conception Bay South, N.L. to face the Senators as part of the Kraft Hockeyville celebrations.

Winnipeg hosts the Predators on Sept. 24 and the Hurricanes on Sept. 25 to round out the preseason schedule.

Winnipeg faces the fabled Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 9 at the MTS Centre to open the 2011-12 season.

The full NHL schedule will be released this afternoon.
